Hokay, today's the first day. I woke up at about 0515 hours and I was already feeling tired, sleepy, weak and groggy!! What more right now!?
Ahh .. first day of training in National University Hospital (NUH). The start of my attachment ...
Here's what happened ..
Went there with Annie and Liz. Had briefings and all till 1230 hrs. Then, an hour of lunch. During one of the briefings, one of my lecturers told us that we'll get paid. Ahh~ what a relief. Heard rumours that we, June intake 2005 won't get paid for some reasons which I seriously think is not valid. At all. My lecturer incharge was supposed to be Ms Doris Lim. But was somehow swopped with Ms Devi. She's rad!
Right after lunch, we assembled outside ward 51 (Liz and Annie are not in my ward though) for further instructions. Was introduced to the ward Sister who's so petite and very soft spoken. She's a-okay! The staff nurses in ward 51 were nice too. Well, I don't know about the days to come. hehe. Oh yeah, me and Su ... our shifts are total opposite. Totally different. Sad. For tomorrow, it looks like I'll be going to NUH all by myself. All of my friends who lives around me and those whom I'm close with are all in the afternoon shift. Dang! But oh well, I'm just so glad that I'm in the morning shift on my birthdayy!! Yeaahhhooo!! Can celebrate ah, but .. with who? Maybe with Annie ah. We'll see!
Was told to help out today. So, D did vital signs for my *first-ever-real-life-patient*! Groggy to the max la. I was shivering .. and she's cute! Hmm what else, oh yeah, went into the dirty utility room. The room where we dispose faeces/urine and wash the bedpans/urinals whatever. Culture shock when I first entered the room. I didnt know it was that room! So, I got 'high'. Yes I did. hehehe.
My back's aching man. Gonna have me dinner now. Watch telly and then off to bed. I need plenty of rest for tomorrow. Oh good lord, keep me strong .. and the others as well. Thank you.
